Job Summary The Procurement Specialist supports Canteen’s foodservice operations by sourcing, purchasing, and leading supplier relationships for snacks, beverages, coffee, equipment, and other products essential to our vending, micro‑market, and dining solutions. This role ensures that our clients receive high‑quality products at competitive costs while maintaining supplier compliance, food safety, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Food & Beverage Procurement
Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for snacks, beverages, coffee, and related food service products.
Monitor industry trends and consumer preferences to ensure product offerings are competitive and innovative.
Maintain KPIs of in‑stock levels through effective ordering, managing the warehouse levels and weekly inventory process.
Equipment & Supplies
Support procurement of warehouse equipment and consumables used in operations and supplied to our customers.
Ownership of vendor management that supports the operation of the warehouse, forklifts, totes, ladders, driver supplies.
Supplier & Vendor Management
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring performance on cost, quality, and service metrics.
Track supplier compliance with food safety, sustainability, and ethical sourcing standards.
Conduct supplier performance reviews and provide recommendations for improvement.
Cost, Compliance & Efficiency
Analyze spend data to identify cost savings, consolidation, and sourcing opportunities.
Ensure adherence to Compass Group’s purchasing policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
Support national account programs and leverage purchasing power across business units.
Cross‑functional Collaboration
Partner with operations and distribution teams to align purchasing decisions with client needs.
Work with marketing and merchandising teams on product mix, seasonal launches, and promotional programs.
Provide reporting and insights into leadership on pricing trends, category performance, and supplier risks.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Foodservice Management, or related field (preferred).
2–4 years of procurement or supply chain experience, preferably in the foodservice, hospitality, or consumer packaged goods industry.
Strong knowledge of food and beverage categories, market trends, and vendor networks.
Proficiency with ERP/procurement systems and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, analysis).
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities.
