Responsibilities Reporting to the Site Head and serving as a member of the Site Leadership Team, this role is responsible for developing and executing site strategy, driving operational excellence, and delivering results. The incumbent leads the Engineering and Facilities Services department, overseeing approximately 150 colleagues across the following functional areas:
Manufacturing Engineering (Project Engineering, Plant Engineering, Suite Maintenance)
Instrumentation and Controls (Controls Engineering, MES Support, Infrastructure & Networks, Calibration)
Utilities and HVAC Operations & Maintenance
Buildings and Grounds Maintenance
Electrical Maintenance
Security
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage maintenance planning systems and capital project execution, including oversight of capital budgets and operating expenses. Serve as the site CAPEX Manager and approve all Capital Authorization Requests (CARs).
Ensure engineering activities align with company policies, cGMP standards, and Good Engineering Practices. Promote harmonization across sites by sharing best practices.
Contribute to long‑term strategic planning by anticipating future engineering needs and advising senior management on cost and schedule implications of engineering alternatives.
Collaborate with customers to assess process and product fit within existing systems and recommend modifications or improvements.
Provide strategic leadership to the Engineering and Facilities department, ensuring effective prioritization, delegation, and resolution of issues.
Develop and implement systems that support site goals, including maintenance programs, automation, drawing management, and project engineering.
Set departmental objectives, guide prioritization throughout the year, and provide performance feedback. Support employee development and career planning.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements Experience & Expertise
10+ years in technical process engineering support within bio/pharma facilities
5+ years in engineering/maintenance support for licensed bio/pharma manufacturing
8+ years managing professional and technical staff
5+ years managing managers with performance accountability
5+ years working with external design and construction contractors
5+ years engaging with customers in a CMO business model
5+ years navigating regulatory and GMP requirements for licensed bio/pharma operations
2+ years working with financial systems and understanding accounting practices
Skills & Competencies
Proven track record in implementing systems that enhance efficiency and GMP compliance
Strong leadership and team management skills across diverse technical disciplines
Ability to manage complex projects and cross‑functional teams
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement, including customer‑facing interactions
Strategic thinking with a focus on long‑term planning and continuous improvement
