Overview
Advance Fire Systems is seeking a seasoned Fire Sprinkler Design Manager to lead our life-safety engineering team. You will oversee design projects from concept through construction, ensuring code compliance, technical excellence, and client satisfaction.
About Us Founded on innovation and safety, Advance Fire Systems specializes in comprehensive fire protection and life-safety solutions for commercial, industrial, and residential clients. Established in 2006 in Durango Colorado, we install, maintain, and inspect fire sprinkler systems in the Four Corners area.
Role Overview As Fire Sprinkler Design Manager, you will:
Guide, develop and grow a team of designers and engineers
Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets
Review and approve detailed sprinkler system drawings
Ensure all designs meet NFPA standards and local codes
You’ll act as the focal point between clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver safe, code-compliant systems on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Mentor and supervise junior designers and engineers
Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing teams
Conduct quality assurance and peer reviews of hydraulic calculations and shop drawings
Lead client meetings, present design concepts, and address technical inquiries
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire protection codes and emerging technologies
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field experience
7+ years of experience in fire sprinkler system design with at least 2 years in a leadership role
Proficiency in sprinkler design software (e.g., HydraCAD, AutoSprink) and CAD platforms
Deep understanding of NFPA 13, NFPA 15, NFPA 25, and applicable local regulations
Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license or NICET Level IV certification
Experience with BIM tools like Revit
Previous work on healthcare, data center, or high-rise building projects
Familiarity with performance-based design and alternative protection systems
