The Polysomnographic Technologist I is responsible for performing a variety of sleep studies on infants and children, including calibrations, monitoring equipment set?up, and scoring based on the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Guidelines. The candidate processes all documentation to provide accurate information to the physician. Pay Range
Minimum $34.11, Midpoint $45.21, Maximum $56.28. Experience Minimum one (1) year of direct patient care experience in Sleep Disorders, EEG or Respiratory Therapy. Preferred: additional work experience in Respiratory Care and/or EEG Testing. Both digital and analog equipment experience preferred; BiPAP, oxygen titration, and ETCO? experience preferred.
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED and completion of polysomnography workshops, courses, seminars, and/or comparable experience in an EEG/respiratory and/or sleep disorders laboratory. Preferred: Associate Degree or some college coursework or allied health coursework with EEG or sleep laboratory experience.
Training
Required: License through the Medical Board of California. Preferred: Technologists not registered by ABSM, BRPT, or NBRC must be enrolled in or have completed the A?STEP online self?study modules within two (2) years of enrollment; SDS certification is strongly advised to be achieved within two (2) years.
Specialized Skills
Required: Desire to work with children and their families is essential; ability to communicate technical and/or clinical observations, accurately score records, set goals, and judge results with respect for the highest standards and customer expectations; promote teamwork and develop new ideas and technology. Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish. Proficient in the use and theory of all equipment related to sleep diagnostic testing.
Licensure
Required: RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) with BRPT (Board of Polysomnographic Technologist) or board eligible. Must be obtained within one year of hire date. Licensed with the Medical Board of California for Polysomnographic Technologist or Trainee. Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Ped Emerg Assess Recog & Stabil (PEARS) preferred within 90 days of hire. Preferred: Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT).
