The Metrology Engineer is responsible for being a technical resource for statistical analysis and quality troubleshooting, including aiding in troubleshooting CMM issues, as well the primary seat researching and bringing in new Quality related technologies. What You\'ll Do

Mentoring and Training on Metrology and GD&T

Development and deployment of UMC metrology best practice standards. Works cross functionally with the CMM programmers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Quality Engineers on troubleshooting. Provide and/or recommend training for employees in area of expertise. (ie., Continuous Improvement, 5S/Lean/Root Cause Analysis, application of manufacturing/inspection methods). Continuous Improvement

Implement quality control measures to identify defects, non-conformities, and areas for improvement aimed at improving product quality, reliability, and resources to support company goals, objectives, and profitability. Provide GD&T and metrology support to Engineering and Operations improvement initiatives. Research and Onboard Inspection Technologies

Be a technical resource for the Manager of Quality and the Capital Expenditures team by suggesting and staying current on latest industry tools, equipment and methodology. Document UMC metrology related practices and procedures. Statistical Analysis & Troubleshooting

Review and maintenance of SPC data collection and statistical analysis. Serve as a resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement. Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to resolve quality issues, identified through inspections, audits, testing protocols, or other. Serve as a resource for Engineering staff on statistical questions or troubleshooting. Requirements

Education and Experience

Undergraduate degree in Engineering or similar technical field or work experience in place of education. 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing with an emphasis on Inspection & Quality. 3+ years’ experience in CMM programming and/or troubleshooting Working knowledge of Regulatory requirements including standards within, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, RoHS, REACH & ITAR. AQS and/or CQE Certification preferred. Experienced in Measurement System Analysis, & Statistical Process Control. Understanding of best practices methods in inspection, calibration, and automated inspection programming. Competencies

Ability to read blueprints with a deep understanding of GD&T. Ability to express ideas, share information, listen actively, and demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communications. Ensure all internal and external customers receive positive service experiences. Promotes a sense of urgency to expedite work though area. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Able to make effective and timely decisions. Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Able to work both independently and as a team. Proficient in various computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Strong mechanical aptitude. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Dexterity with computers - the ability to type and use a mouse. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Must be able to meet customer demand requirements for performing visual inspection and/or other product acceptance activities with or without accommodation (only for positions in which this is a requirement of the job per the customer requirement).
