Position Summary The Senior Cost Accountant will support the management and manufacturing teams’ decision making through providing accurate product cost information and creating an environment of product cost awareness.
Duties
Maintain and update standard costs for all products, raw materials, freight, duty and labor.
Analyze and reconcile actual vs standard costs; identify key drivers behind variances.
Work with manufacturing personnel to improve yield and efficiency.
Prepare summary feedback of financial statement variances to budget and prior periods; establish a business partner relationship with other departments (Ops, sales, engineering, etc.) to provide relevant information to improve business.
Monitor and report on cost trends, cost absorption and margin performance; support Finance Manager in controlling fixed and variable costs in accordance with budgeted/forecasted spend, and explore ways to increase real‑time cost visibility and identify potential targets for cost efficiency improvements.
Report on manufacturing variances, overhead expenses, scrap, waste and inventory valuation; annually compile manufacturing budget and review standard costs.
Synthesize data and present reports in a meaningful way to management; perform month‑end analysis related to COGS and inventory.
Perform other duties as required to ensure the success of the business unit.
Requirements
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of related experience in Accounting, including at least 2 years in cost accounting.
Previous experience in standard costing within a manufacturing environment – required.
Previous experience in standard costing system implementation – preferred.
Advanced experience in Excel and Power BI – required.
Experience using AI tools – preferred.
CPA – preferred.
