Rail Electro-Mechanic Lead (SDA) – King County, WA
This is a working lead position in the Rail Vehicle Maintenance team. Lead Rail Electro-Mechanics are responsible for identifying, scheduling, coordinating, planning, assigning, overseeing and evaluating the work of other Rail Electro-Mechanics, vendors, and contractors. All normal duties of a skilled journey-level Rail Electro-Mechanic will also be performed.
Who May Apply We are hiring to fill one (1) Special Duty Assignment and are accepting applications from King County, Rail employees who have successfully passed their probationary period in their current Career Service position. This position is safety sensitive and requires drug testing prior to employment and random drug/alcohol testing thereafter in compliance with Federal DOT protocols.

Responsibilities
Coordinate and provide technical assistance to Electro-Mechanics in the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of LRVs, Streetcars, and related equipment; ensure defects are identified, documented, and repaired in a timely fashion.
Conduct crew and safety meetings, track Minutes, act as conduit between front-line staff and management; report safety violations; ensure safe work practices and proper handling of controlled materials.
Determine work priorities, assign tasks to the appropriate Rail Electro-Mechanic, and monitor workflow in accordance with work orders and preventive maintenance schedules.
Train new and current personnel in required maintenance, repair, and base safety procedures.
Advise mechanics when work is deficient or non-compliant; recommend corrective actions to the Rail Vehicle Maintenance Transit Chief.
Conduct evaluations of work performed and ensure equipment and tools are in proper working order.
Monitor Streetcar or LRV pull-out/pull-in and respond to failures; report yard, signals, switches, and facility equipment problems.
Lead, mentor, and train assigned employees; drive between Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility locations as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of responsible full-time work experience as a Rail Electro-Mechanic performing electrical, electronic, and mechanical work on light rail vehicles and related equipment.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements for light rail vehicle operations and rail operations principles and methods.
Knowledge of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems on light rail vehicles; skill in AC/DC systems, analog/digital electronics, control circuitry, heating, lighting, air conditioning, motors, brakes, and related systems.
Skill in applying industrial safety procedures and maintaining shop areas.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
A valid Washington State driver's license with acceptable driving record (out-of-state license holders must obtain WA license within 30 days of hire).

Leadership, training, and technical assistance skills.
Experience preparing written reports and documenting defects and repairs.
Team-building and multi-priority management abilities.
Problem-solving and diagnostic skills for equipment issues.

Ability to engage with frontline staff to identify training needs and maintain cooperative relationships across diverse groups.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Schedule & Location This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Typical schedule is 40 hours per week with non-standard hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) as needed. Schedule is based on a seniority “pick” system; shift differentials apply for second and third shifts.
Locations include Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility (OMF) Central and OMF East, Bellevue, WA, with potential future sites.
