At Thomson Reuters, we\'re revolutionizing legal work through our CoCounsel Platform. As Principal Engineer for CoCounsel Application, you\'ll partner with the Sr. Director for CoCounsel Application to define and execute the technical vision for our generative AI products, ensuring we deliver powerful, user-friendly, and innovative solutions that transform how legal professionals work.

About the Role In this opportunity as Principal Engineer, CoCounsel Application, you will:

Provide technical leadership and define software development strategies for critical AI projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Lead the design and development of innovative features for CoCounsel, advancing AI-native product experiences.

Drive the seamless integration of LLMs and generative AI technologies into user-friendly applications for legal professionals.

Streamline the use of Micro Front Ends to ensure low latency, scalability, and excellent user experience.

Mentor a globally distributed team of engineering managers, architects, and developers to strengthen engineering culture.

Lead complex technical initiatives, exercising autonomy in decision-making and managing technical risk.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions.

About You You\'re a fit for the role of Principal Engineer, CoCounsel Application if your background includes:

10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a proven record of developing scalable, web-based solutions.

Expertise with modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, or similar), TypeScript, Node.js, and Python.

Experience with AI technologies, including GenAI concepts such as prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and fine-tuning.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.

Demonstrated ability to mentor others and promote best practices in release management, AI dev tools, and test-driven development.

Ability to navigate ambiguity, make data-driven decisions, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Additional preferred qualifications

Experience integrating AI/ML technologies into customer-facing applications.

Background in legal technology or enterprise SaaS environments.

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

In the United States, Thomson Reuters offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, a competitive 401k with company match, generous paid time off, holidays (including two mental health days), parental leave, and other benefits. Details vary by location. The base compensation range for this role is $154,000 - $286,000, plus potential annual bonus based on performance. Base pay is determined by factors including knowledge, skills, and experience and internal equity.
