Must Have
3+ years of quality control experience – no degree required. Manufacturing or machine‑operating experience preferred if no QC experience.
1+ years of QC experience with a scientific or engineering degree (material science, biology, chemistry, mechanical, chemical).
Familiar with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
ASTM Standards (American Society for Testing and Materials) – preferred, not required.
Good organizational skills and technical capabilities.
Basic computer, math and communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Description The Lab Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide quality testing of extruded material in accordance with customer requirements and the Aluminum Standards Association guidelines. Ensure that APEL’s activities are performed and documented in accordance with APEL’s quality requirements. Operate tensile testing equipment safely and accurately (tensile strength). Use measuring techniques to adhere to the tolerances set forth by the Aluminum Standard Association (micrometers, calipers, routers, etc.) – measuring distance and thickness of aluminum material. Conduct quality inspections on aluminum before, during, and after all processing is completed. Retrieve and document data per customers’ specification requirements in Epics (extrusion software). Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address quality concerns. Maintain a clean quality lab and manufacturing area. Promote the highest quality product, assist in the leadership and support of the Quality Management System. Other duties as assigned.
