Bantam Communications seeks a Public Relations Specialist to enhance media presence for renewable energy projects in local communities. This role will be instrumental in building and maintaining relationships with local newspapers and media outlets, crafting compelling narratives that support clean energy deployment while addressing community questions and concerns. As a Public Relations Specialist, you will develop strategic communications that translate technical renewable energy concepts into accessible stories highlighting community benefits. You'll help standardize media outreach processes that enable stakeholders to understand complex renewable energy developments and foster positive community engagement. This role combines communications expertise with local media knowledge to transform technical information into compelling local narratives. Remote position Availability for 5-10 hours is required during the final week of each month to support monthly reporting. Reports to Marketing Communications Manager 6-month initial contract Competitive hourly rate with performance bonuses tied to successful media placements Key Responsibilities:

Media Relations & Outreach:

Develop and maintain relationships with journalists and editors at local newspapers in target communities. Create and implement comprehensive media outreach strategies across multiple local publications. Content Development:

Craft press releases, media advisories, bylined articles, and editorial content highlighting community benefits of renewable energy projects. Translate technical information into compelling stories that resonate with local audiences. Media Monitoring & Analysis:

Monitor local media coverage and public sentiment regarding renewable energy projects using Bantam’s media monitoring platform and provide real-time updates Media Reporting:

Prepare comprehensive media monitoring reports for clients and stakeholders that outline KPIs and synthesize coverage trends into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders. Press/Media Event Support:

Provide communications for project events, organize press events, and prepare client talking points for interviews. Qualifications and Experience: 3+ years of experience in public relations, journalism, or communications Proven track record placing stories in local media outlets Experience in renewable energy, sustainability, or related fields preferred Strong writing abilities with samples of published work Understanding of news cycles and journalist needs Ability to translate technical concepts for general audiences Experience with rural communities and agricultural stakeholders preferred
