Adjunct Instructor – Comics Studio: Alternative Formats Position Summary The Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) invites applications for a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor to teach Comics Studio: Alternative Formats (COMC3021) within the Comics & Narrative Practice program. This position requires on-campus instruction and active engagement with students in a studio-based learning environment.

Course Description Comics Studio: Alternative Formats expands upon the foundational competencies established in introductory comics courses. The class introduces advanced skills and critical thinking, guiding students through a wide range of projects, styles, methods, and materials‑including mini‑comics, web comics, experimental formats, and the use of color.

Projects are student‑driven and emphasize innovative applications of narrative and visual storytelling in both short and long‑form works. Students will deepen their understanding of historical precedents, literary concepts, and the contemporary comics landscape. The instructor will focus on helping students generate ideas, experiment with diverse media, and develop creative solutions to design and storytelling challenges.

Days/Times Tues & Thurs, 8:00–10:45 a.m.

Format In‑person, on campus.

Date of Hire Spring 2026

Qualifications

MFA preferred and/or a minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in comics creation or a closely related field.

Demonstrated expertise in comics theory, narrative structure, and visual storytelling.

Evidence of effective teaching or mentoring experience in art and design education preferred.

Ability to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

A completed application will include
