Overview

Location: Hebrew Home – Riverdale, NY. Salary: $72,000 - $80,000 annually. Full-Time Activities Program Director. Responsibilities

Supervise and support activity staff, including coordinating staff schedules. Develop and implement a monthly activity calendar reflecting the interests and preferences of all residents. Plan, organize, and lead programs and events that promote whole-person wellness — physical, emotional, cognitive, and social. Conduct resident assessments and maintain accurate and timely documentation. Attend to day-to-day operations of the program, including attending meetings, maintaining employee records, performing budgeting functions, creating promotional materials, and conducting surveys or needs assessments. Oversee the process of conducting needs assessments to ascertain physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities at admission, quarterly, or during significant change of status; ensure all resident assessments are completed based on the MDS schedule; ensure staff completes documentation including Section F of the MDS and resident care plans/goals and any documentation required by state or federal regulations. Utilize information from leisure preference assessments to plan specific activities and recreational programs addressing residents7 needs. Collaborate with activity staff and members of the interdisciplinary team to understand how activities can promote healing and belonging. Determine individual leisure time interests and expectations. Create, schedule, and program recreational and therapeutic activities, ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations and safety for seniors. Develop an activities program that is diverse and responsive to residents7 requirements; advertise events well in advance. Participate in quality improvement projects as directed by Clinical Strategies, including documentation review and care plan participation. Utilize computers daily (typing, email, video conferencing, and various software programs). Cope with the emotional stress associated with working with patients, families, and co-workers; work independently with occasional support; respond to emergencies or disasters; adhere to cleanliness, grooming, and dress code standards; maintain documentation requirements; complete continuing education and facility trainings as required. Plan and execute large-scale events; collaborate with facility marketing for community exposure. Contribute to a positive work environment; demonstrate professional customer service and effective communication; adhere to company policies including HIPAA and resident rights. Support a flexible approach to evolving responsibilities as needed. Qualifications

Experience and passion for working in geriatric settings, such as nursing homes or senior centers. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Physical ability to stand for long periods, squat, bend, and push activity carts. Proficient in the use of various computer programs. Eligibility criteria (one of the following): Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist who is eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist, or Two years of experience in a geriatric social or recreational program within the last five years (one year full-time in a patient or resident activities program in a health care setting), or Qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
