Overview
Generative AI & Machine Learning Engineer with Security Clearance Are you passionate about bringing data quality improvement experience to a world-class organization that leads in content and technology to serve and protect our citizens home and abroad? This role involves managing, understanding, and analyzing in-house and customer data including text mining, developing predictive systems, risk scoring, creating efficient algorithms, data quality improvement and related activities. Thomson Reuters Special Services (TRSS) is seeking you for this position. As a Generative AI and Machine Learning Engineer, you will support product development efforts ranging from generative AI and machine learning application development and deployment to model development and monitoring, ML management and DevOps. You will be a contributing member of a Software Engineering team that supports production applications and helps develop new features and models. The role interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to ensure we deliver a workable solution that meets customer requirements and technical capabilities. A proactive, mission-oriented mindset is essential, aiming to produce the best possible work for the customer. Key focus areas include end-to-end model development lifecycle, collaboration across cross-functional teams, delivering timely and well-managed results, innovation, and clear communication to both technical and non-technical audiences while driving AI adoption across the enterprise. Responsibilities
Experiment and Develop: Drive the end-to-end model development lifecycle with reproducible research and well-managed software delivery. Collaborate: Work with cross-functional teams, share information, mentor teammates, and integrate work into production environments. Deliver: Translate complex business problems into clearly scoped projects and ensure timely, quality deliverables. Innovate: Explore new approaches, learn new technologies, iterate rapidly, and learn from data. Inspire: Communicate work effectively to technical and non-technical audiences and lead AI adoption across the enterprise. About you / Qualifications
Master’s or Bachelor’s in a relevant discipline (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree). Proficiency in Python. At least 3+ years of practical, relevant experience building AI/ML products and applications, with recent demonstrable experience using Generative AI technologies (e.g., RAG patterns, ReAct, LangChain) for tasks such as document summarization, knowledge graphs, information extraction, or analysis. Solid Software Engineering Skills and Experience, including leadership experience in ideation with product stakeholders, problem decomposition, iterative improvements, research and development planning, and cross-team communication. Hands-on coding experience on AI/ML projects and experience designing, developing, and implementing ML models and algorithms. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. national security clearance; U.S. Citizenship is essential for government contract requirements. Experience developing libraries and APIs for others to use. Preferred / Additional Qualifications
6+ years practical experience using AI/ML to solve diverse and/or ambiguous problems in academia or industry. Experience with AI agent frameworks and patterns; NLP use cases such as chatbot development, information retrieval (RAG), language translation, NER, summarization, and topic modeling. Familiarity with LLM training and efficient fine-tuning (PEFT, LoRA, Quantization). Experience with NLP/CV libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, spaCy, HuggingFace, Diffusers, OpenAI, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, OpenCV). Experience using cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, etc.) for building and deploying applications. Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment managing uncertainty and ambiguity. Proficiency in Python and delivering minimum viable products in a large enterprise environment. Seniority level
