What You Will Do

As a Cable Engineer, Level 1 with Independent Software, you will support the design, installation, testing, and documentation of structured cabling systems that underpin critical communications infrastructure within secure facilities. You’ll ensure compliance with TIA/EIA standards, contribute to process improvements, and uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability across both fiber and copper networks. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with senior cabling engineers, project managers, and customer stakeholders to ensure all projects are executed on schedule and in full compliance with technical and security requirements. Key Responsibilities

Install, inspect, and document structured cabling system infrastructure, including:

Cable tray, horizontal and backbone fiber/copper cabling Telecommunications grounding systems and associated connectivity hardware

Ensure installation meets all applicable TIA/EIA, NEC, and BICSI standards. Support development and adherence to quality assurance inspection criteria. Conduct field inspections and provide feedback to ensure compliance and performance. Assist with the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cabling installation, termination, and testing. Participate in BICSI Information Technology Systems Cable Installation Program training and manufacturer certification courses. Support implementation of new cabling technologies and materials. Maintain project documentation, inspection reports, and red-line drawings. Provide technical input for cabling design and layout to support proposal or implementation requirements. Perform safety inspections and monthly coaching observations in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with corporate safety programs and promote safe work practices at all times. Interface with customers during project execution to ensure satisfaction and effective communication. Support senior engineers and project managers in maintaining schedule, quality, and cost objectives. Required Skills and Qualifications

Excellent communication skills across all levels of technical and leadership personnel. Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail. Proficient in installation, termination, and testing of fiber optic and copper cabling systems. In-depth knowledge of TIA/EIA, NEC, and BICSI standards. Experience developing or managing technical training programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarity with MS Project or similar project scheduling tools preferred. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum of 8 years of structured cabling and telecommunications infrastructure experience, including field installation, inspection, or program management responsibilities. Prior experience in secure government or intelligence community environments is highly desirable. Certifications

BICSI ITSIMM (Information Technology Systems Cable Installation Program) Trainer Certification, BICSI RCDD Certification Cabling Industry training courses. Clearance Requirement
