A highly regarded and established hedge fund is looking for a Tax Compliance Manager to join their team. This person will be responsible for tax compliance filing and reporting for two of their REIT funds. Responsibilities include workpaper preparation, reviewing state and federal tax returns, and responding to tax notices. The ideal candidate will have REIT experience from a public and/or private firm.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and review income tax provisions (ASC 740, FAS 109) and related disclosures
Coordinate the release of 1099s and maintain detailed tax records
Monitor REIT tax compliance daily, review taxable income, and calendar tax characterization of dividends and the REIT income and asset tests
Prepare summary memos and research federal and state tax issues
Estimate current taxable income, assist with forecasting, and handle tax characterization of dividends and REIT tests
Monitor FACTA compliance for all fund entities
Respond to tax notices from federal and state tax authorities
Research tax issues and prepare summary memos
Minimum Requirements:
5-10 years of experience in federal/state tax and REIT compliance
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required; a Master’s in Taxation is a plus
Strong Excel skills are required; experience with SQL is preferred
