Job Summary The CVICU Nurse/Technologist provides specialized care to critically ill patients with complex cardiovascular conditions, including post-cardiac surgery, heart failure, arrhythmias, and patients on advanced mechanical circulatory support. The role involves monitoring, assessing, and managing patients’ cardiovascular, respiratory, and hemodynamic status while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care to critically ill cardiovascular patients, including monitoring vital signs, hemodynamic parameters, and lab values.

Administer medications, including vasoactive drugs, anticoagulants, and other cardiovascular therapies as prescribed.

Perform and interpret cardiovascular monitoring, including ECG, telemetry, arterial lines, central lines, and pulmonary artery catheters.

Assist with cardiac procedures such as post-operative care for CABG, valve replacements, heart transplants, or ECMO support.

Respond promptly to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, and hemodynamic instability.

Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Educate patients and families regarding condition, procedures, and post-discharge care.

Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Follow hospital policies, infection control guidelines, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) with current state licensure (for nursing role) or certified Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) certification (for tech role).

BLS, ACLS, and preferably PALS certifications.

Minimum 2 years of critical care experience; CVICU experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.

Proficient in cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic support, and critical care interventions.

Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
