Multimedia Technical Support Specialist on-campus, full-time, 12-month appointment based in Champaign, Illinois, covered by the Professional Support Staff (PSS) Union with an annual salary of $52,436.80. Application Close Date/Time: Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 7 PM CT Responsibilities

Provide audio visual, digital signage, and lecture capture system support for Parkland College and individual departments. Install, maintain, and support audio visual technology such as projectors, cameras, microphones, AV control systems, and related equipment in instructional, conference, collaboration, athletic, and public spaces; support lecture capture technology and digital signage across the campus. Serve as a video engineer for PCTV; provide direct support for students, faculty, and staff on multimedia equipment and services. Work independently and as part of a team; troubleshoot equipment and systems; accurately prioritize tasks. Collaborate with Technology Client Services staff, faculty, administrators, students, and community members as part of common work interactions. Deliver customer service by responding to requests in person, on the phone, or via email in a timely, polite, and professional manner. Maintain relationships with the user community; proactively communicate relevant information and stay informed of user needs and initiatives. Coordinate and implement deployment of classroom, conference room, and digital signage systems; conduct maintenance and upgrades as needed. Perform technical tasks including soldering, cable fabrication, and connection termination to support AV systems. Provide extensive troubleshooting and testing of videoconferencing, audiovisual equipment, and wireless collaboration technologies. Communicate with vendors regarding purchase and/or repair of equipment and supplies. Develop and encourage best practices for the use of A/V technology; stay current with trends and integrate appropriate technologies. Develop, implement, and coordinate processes for regular maintenance, replacement, upgrade, and standardization of A/V technology across the College. Develop documentation and provide training for units and users on the use of A/V technology. Prepare proposals and operational guides for equipment usage and systems; install, configure, and support videoconferencing and other multimedia equipment; manage wireless collaboration technologies. Manage inventory of audiovisual equipment; oversee stock levels and facilitate maintenance and replacement; process purchase requests as needed. Install, operate, and maintain equipment for media studios, classrooms, and other Parkland facilities. Manage individual A/V projects and ensure timely delivery; promote standard A/V systems and adapt services to unit needs. Consult with departments on design, purchase, and installation of A/V technology for instructional, conference, collaboration, performance, athletic, and public spaces. Partner with Technology Client Services for A/V support; coordinate with Campus Technologies Infrastructure and Physical Plant for special event A/V support outside regular hours. Inspect and maintain campus spaces to ensure equipment reliability and availability; hire, train, and supervise part-time hourly employees. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements

Five (5) years of work experience in AV or IT-related functions (hardware/software support, programming, network design/engineering, IT systems integration, or related field). College coursework in Information Technology or related discipline; substitutions for experience are described in the original posting (e.g., 30 semester hours equals one year, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong customer service abilities; mathematical skills for scheduling and equipment calculations. Ability to oversee and coordinate activities of user groups and contribute to cross-functional tasks or projects. Demonstrated experience troubleshooting desktop and mobile computing applications and hardware; knowledge of effective troubleshooting methodologies. Knowledge of networking concepts and connectivity. Experience with A/V technology support for large or remote events (projectors, microphones, cameras, digital signage). Familiarity with enterprise tools or services (endpoint management, imaging, centralized solutions) and instructional or collaborative space design. Project management concepts including timelines, charters, communications plans, and tracking action items. Proficiency with current multimedia production and display technology and the ability to learn the Parkland information system and adapt to new programs. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform overhead work, climb ladders, and maneuver in tight spaces. Post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting; compliance with Illinois School Code and Higher Education Act as applicable. Must be willing to suspend SURS annuitant status or not be a SURS annuitant (as applicable under 40 ILCS 5/15-139.5). Benefits
