Software Engineer – Cloud
Eventual was founded in 2022 to make querying any kind of data—images, video, audio, text—as intuitive as working with tables, while scaling to production workloads. Our open‑source engine, Daft, coordinates external APIs, manages GPU clusters, and handles failures that traditional engines can’t. Daft already powers critical workloads at companies like Amazon, Mobileye, Together AI, and CloudKitchens. With a world‑class team built from Databricks, AWS, Nvidia, Pinecone, GitHub Copilot, Tesla, and more, we’re looking to double our staff and continue building next‑generation distributed data technologies.
Your Role As a Software Engineer, you will build Eventual’s core products and architecture, shipping features that customers use immediately. You’ll work closely with product and customer‑facing teams, and be expected to autonomously scope and solve complex technical challenges while maintaining high code quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build a managed service to run multi‑modal data processing at scale.
Design and build highly reliable and resilient products and features.
Work closely with cross‑functional product and customer‑facing teams to understand requirements and ship thoughtful solutions.
Write high‑quality, extensible, and maintainable code.
Design and build scalable applications and components.
What we look for
5+ years of experience building cloud services and systems.
Experience building large‑scale distributed systems.
A unique startup growth mindset of responsibly taking on tech debt for velocity and future extensibility.
Familiarity and experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS S3).
Proven ability to take a product from ground zero to production.
Passion for building state‑of‑the‑art distributed data technologies and working well in small, focused teams with fast iterations.
