Overview Polymath Robotics is creating software that can safely control all of the world's industrial vehicles, and we’re looking for a Network Engineer/DevOps person to join our team. We’re a small, close-knit group of roughly 20 people, each of us experts in our fields, working to bring autonomous vehicles to various industries quickly. We believe robotics and autonomy are at a tipping point, similar to how the PC industry reshaped the world in the 80s, and we need your help.

Polymath Robotics is creating software that safely controls industrial vehicles. As our Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll architect and scale the backbone of that system — defining what services we use, how they interconnect, and how they scale across fleets. You’ll work closely with our software and robotics teams, ensuring reliability and performance across our distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain core infrastructure services powering our robot fleet and backend systems.

Define how systems communicate, authenticate, and scale between cloud and edge.

Own observability infrastructure (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Loki) — metrics, logging, alerting, uptime.

Develop and optimize data storage and querying solutions (PostgreSQL, rosbags/mcap).

Create robust strategies for backup, recovery, and disaster resilience.

Develop and optimize binary/artifact stores for rapid delivery to robots.

Collaborate with robotics and application teams to ensure infrastructure scales with product growth.

Drive architectural decisions for reliability, maintainability, and cost efficiency.

Mentor team members in good software and systems engineering practices.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience building and scaling production infrastructure systems.

Proven track record with distributed systems, containers (Kubernetes/Podman), and cloud infrastructure.

Deep knowledge of Prometheus, PostgreSQL, and data pipeline design.

Experience integrating observability and monitoring into CI/CD workflows.

Strong coding and automation skills (Python, Go, Bash, or equivalent).

Solid grasp of security, networking, and service interconnect patterns.

Self‑directed, high‑ownership mindset.
