Role Overview This supervisory position provides leadership, support, and oversight for all elements of the clinical work at our detox program, including training, skill development, coaching, performance feedback, and enforcement of program rules. The role ensures adherence to program and agency policies and assists the Program Manager in delivering high‑quality client care in accordance with Horizon Services standards and applicable regulations. In addition to supervisory duties, the Clinical Supervisor will provide direct client services such as individual and group counseling and crisis support.

Primary Accountabilities & Responsibilities

People Management

Train, develop, and lead a high‑performing clinical team.

Support the Program Manager in interviewing and hiring SUD counselors.

Provide new‑hire orientation and ongoing training on clinical work.

Offer ongoing feedback through supervision meetings and group sessions.

Develop and deliver staff trainings as needed.

Client Care

Provide direct counseling (individual and group) and crisis support.

Ensure high‑level services to clients.

Resident/Beneficiary Care

Serve as the designated Licensed Practitioner for assigned DMC‑ODS clients.

Offer on‑call consultation and support during non‑regular hours.

Maintain quality care aligned with regulatory standards.

Provide crisis support and conflict de‑escalation.

Connect clients to community resources and off‑site services.

Safety & Security

Safeguard staff and clients from harm.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Enforce program policies and procedures.

Facilitate regular supervision and team meetings.

Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and trainings.

Address resident/beneficiary complaints promptly.

Ensure accurate documentation and conduct random file audits.

Maintain knowledge of evidence‑based practices and contract requirements.

Other supervisory duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of evidence‑based interventions for co‑occurring, multicultural, low‑income populations.

2+ years of experience working with individuals struggling with substance use issues.

MA or MS in Clinical Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.

Clinical license (MFT, LPCC, LCSW, or equivalent) or post‑degree registration with BBS as an Associate in counseling.

Preferred: BBS standards for supervising and signing clinical hours.

Preferred: 2+ years training staff on de‑escalation, group milieu management, and clinical skills.

Preferred: 2+ years experience engaging clients in group activities and positive programming.

Preferred: 2+ years experience providing crisis intervention in mental health or substance use treatment.

Preferred: 1+ year experience managing budgetary needs.

CPR/First Aid certification (valid within 6 months of hire).

Valid California driver’s license with good driving record and car insurance.

Compensation & Benefits

100% of medical, dental, life, and LTD for the employee; 50% for dependents.

Salary:

$85,000 – $90,000 based on experience and qualifications.
