The Role
Technical Specialist is focused on electrification-based Vehicle Interface & Battery Energy control modules (VICM/BECM) and a second role is offered in the Chassis Suspension domain. Both will be the global voice for technical expertise for these components and/or subsystems. You’ll establish and maintain a clear strategy for the VICM/BECM and Chassis controllers and ensure reuse and technical excellence of engineering solutions and components. You’ll work with the key stakeholders from execution, performance, and support teams to ensure common implementation of strategy and to promote technical knowledge for the components. We are seeking Engineers with demonstrated technical skills to develop winning/robust BOM strategies, oversee solutions, elevate issues, and deliver continuous improvement for the Vehicle Interface & Battery Energy control modules (VICM/BECM) and Chassis Suspension control modules.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the controller technical review process to assure compliance with global requirements
Lead in the development of an Inhouse Designed Controller. You will need to interface across the Compute & Connectivity Hardware as well as the Battery Electronics Advanced Propulsion & Chassis Underbody Teams
Maintain and refresh BOM Strategies
Intimate knowledge of hardware and software interfaces
Deliver BOM which meets Imperatives (Cost, Mass, Investment, Quality)
Develop Sourcing Strategies. Support Supplier Development and Qualification (TASL)
Maintain Global requirements (SSTS & CTRS Templates, etc.)
Create and Maintain Best Practices and Inherent Criteria
Approve BOM Picks and assure math data availability
Support PRTS Issue Resolution
Perform/lead read across for Safety Tether PRTS
Perform/lead read across for NHTSA recalls of competitors
Support Product Investigations (SFI Process)
Support Cost Reduction
Create ICDe and ICDm Templates
Support CR/DNs
Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting activities
Leads technical support to manufacturing engineering and production facilities
Support global supplier evaluation and localization process
Lead new designs/major redesigns as technical experts to ensure success, and monitor global BOD/BOM/BOP compatibility
Lead the controller technical review process to assure compliance with global requirements
Provide technical guidance for current development or production issues.
Participate as a co-leader in the Controller Hardware CCB
HW Subject Matter Expert to support software, calibration, and integration issues
Support ATW/workgroups for regulations updates.
Act as the hardware voice related to new functionality to meet emissions upgrades.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemistry, Physics or equivalent
Minimum of 10 years of experience in applying microprocessor-based controllers to automotive vehicle electrical systems.
In-depth knowledge of serial data communications
In-depth knowledge of requirements engineering process (FMEA, Preliminary Hazard Analyses)
In-depth knowledge of verification and validation processes
In-depth knowledge of embedded software development, testing and associated tools
Understanding of hardware design and failure modes
Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
Thorough knowledge of design development and test engineering, manufacturing and assembly operations, engineering processes and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of vehicle service procedures.
Highly developed oral and written communications skills
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally within Electrical and across other SMTs.
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
Very high level of analytical problem-solving skills where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult.

Experience in Engine/Transmission Controller Electronics
5+ years of experience in Engine/Transmission/Chassis Controller Electronics

DFSS Master Black Belt Certification
Knowledge of SAFe Practices
