The right candidate will be an experienced midwife, with a genuine passion for safety and quality and leadership. The successful candidate will take charge of the maternity unit, being the most senior member of staff at weekends and nights. They will also take responsibility for a community team and contribute to the on-call rota It is essential the candidates have worked as a midwife in the UK for at least two years. Main duties of the job

To regularly take charge of the maternity unit as the shift co-ordinator, sometimes as the most senior midwife on the maternity unit. To oversee the caseload for that designated community team with particular focus on safeguarding concerns, for both adults and children, assuring appropriate escalation and management as required. To provide line management for a small team of midwives. To provide senior on-call cover for homebirths and for the unit. About us

Registered midwife Degree and post graduate diploma level qualifications or equivalent Evidence of CPD which includes clinical leadership and management Driving licence and access to a car Qualified as a non-medical prescriber KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Extensive, relevant post registration experience as a band 6 midwife Evidence of clinical leadership Evidence of ability to practice as a proficient practitioner SKILLS & ABILITIES

Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and families Evidence of an ability to manage time effectively Understanding of clinical governance and ability to assist in establishing systems Evidence of situational awareness. Evidence of effective communication skills. Evidence of effective organisational skills. Evidence of how to motivate team members and promote good team working.
