HDR is recognized by Engineering‑News Record as a Top 10 environmental firm. We are looking for an Environmental Project Manager to support our Environmental Sciences and Planning Cross‑Sector in the Southeast. The position is open to multiple office locations.

Responsibilities

Plan and direct medium‑to‑large‑size environmental planning and permitting projects for transportation, water/wastewater, facilities, power, and other programs as identified.

Prepare, plan, and analyze/review technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents.

Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project’s lifecycle (from development and initiation to close‑out).

Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.

Coordinate workload through entire project development, ensuring completion of documents on schedule.

Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of the agreed‑to schedule.

Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed.

Mentor mid‑level and junior staff in field survey techniques (wetland delineations, stream assessments, etc.), permitting (primarily CWA), and technical writing.

Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for compliance.

Accomplish work independently and through coordinating or supervising small to large technical and professional teams from local and regional offices.

Support regional or national projects in specific areas of technical expertise.

Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

NEPA experience with power and/or renewable energy clients and projects, including but not limited to TVA. Specific, relevant experience working on NEPA documentation and supporting technical reports for the following types of projects is highly desirable:

Private sector renewable energy facility interconnections to the TVA system

TVA‑led renewable energy facilities

Other TVA power and energy projects (transmission, thermal generation, etc.)

M.S. degree or higher in botany or related field.

Minimum 5 years’ experience focusing on field botany and plant identification.

Working knowledge of the flora, both common and T&E species in the Tennessee Valley.

Contributed specimens to a herbarium or rare plant record to a state Natural Heritage program within the past 5 years.

Seller/doer approach with experience in developing client and agency relationships.

Experience with public service commission and/or local permitting presentations or testimony.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

7 years related experience.

Minimum of 2 years project management experience.

Must have the ability to interact with various design teams and exhibit excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
