Hourly $38.06 - $57.09 Responsible for performing and evaluating laboratory tests, establishing and modifying laboratory procedures, evaluating laboratory data for quality and accuracy and performing related tasks for diagnostic testing including but not limited to inventory, specimen collection, quality control, quality assurance, training, proficiency testing, reagent/instrument preparation, problem solving, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Provide oversight to work of the MLT employees. Part Time / Night Shift 0.875 FTE - 10 hour shifts - 70 hours per pay period 7 days on/7 days off
Responsibilities
Perform and evaluate laboratory tests and diagnose results. Establish and modify laboratory procedures; evaluate data for quality and accuracy. Manage inventory, specimen collection, quality control, quality assurance, training, proficiency testing, and preparation of reagents and instruments. Provide oversight to the work of MLT employees; troubleshoot instrument issues.
Qualifications
Medical Technologist: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biological Sciences required. If applicable, evidence of foreign degree equivalency required. A minimum of one year experience in a hospital-based lab is preferred, either as a generalist or specialist, depending on the position opening. Experience with laboratory information systems and automated interfaced instruments; strong customer service, technical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Professional Licensure/Certification/Registration : One of the following certifications is required: ASCP Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) NCA Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) CSMLS Medical Laboratory Technologist, Canada AMT Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Or a single certification in hematology (H(ASCP)), chemistry (C(ASCP)), microbiology (M(ASCP)) or molecular biology (MB(ASCP)). Medical Lab Technician: Associate degree from a community college in Medical Laboratory Science; 90 quarter hours/60 semester hours credit or eligible military training program in Medical Laboratory Science; NAACS accredited MLT program preferred; Bachelor’s degree preferred. One year of experience in a hospital-based lab preferred; laboratory generalist preferred. Professional Licensure/Certification/Registration : One of the following certifications is required within six months of hire date: ASCP Medical Laboratory Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist ASCP Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician American Association of Bioanalysts with Bachelor Degree in science and MLT certification NCA Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) NBMLT (Canada) Medical Laboratory Technologist
