This position is posted for a potential government contract opportunity. Employment and compensation are contingent upon contract award. The pay range listed represents a good‑faith estimate in accordance with California pay transparency requirements and may vary depending on final contract terms and the candidate’s experience, education and other job‑related factors.

Job Overview The System Engineer supports the configuration, security, and operation of domain system servers, SAN, NAS, backup systems, identity management, and the overall security and high availability of the DLIFLC data center. This role manages development, sustainment, staging, and production systems in a hybrid cloud/data‑center environment, including planning, installation, maintenance (including after‑hours and emergency support), troubleshooting, and management of all system servers and applications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Configure, operate, and support domain system servers, SAN, NAS, backup systems, and identity management solutions.

Manage development, staging, and production systems in a hybrid cloud/data‑center environment.

Plan, install, maintain, and troubleshoot all system servers and applications, including after‑hours and emergency support as required.

Ensure the security and high availability of the data center, including business continuity, disaster recovery, and contingency operations.

Support and maintain Microsoft O365, VMware vSphere and NSX‑T, Linux Red Hat, Windows Server, SQL, MySQL, EMC SAN technologies, Active Directory, and AWS or Microsoft Azure environments.

Maintain and update documentation for system architecture, design, security, business continuity, deployment, and operations.

Perform daily operations and maintenance, including system administration, database administration, data backups, application monitoring, performance monitoring, capacity planning, problem resolution, software deployment, configuration/patch management, and incident response.

Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and application development teams to ensure seamless operations and compliance with DoD and Army standards.

Provide technical guidance and support to other IT personnel as needed.

Competencies

Deep technical knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking protocols, storage technologies, cloud computing platforms, and security best practices.

Experience with Microsoft O365, VMware vSphere and NSX‑T, Linux Red Hat, Windows Server, SQL, MySQL, EMC SAN technologies, Active Directory, AWS or Microsoft Azure.

Experience maintaining a high‑availability data center.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to diagnose complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, multi‑site environment.

Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills.

Requirements Minimum Requirements/Education:

BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years of experience, or AA/AS with 7+ years of experience.

IAT Level II (CySA+, Security+, CND, or SSCP) Certification and CE/OS Certification.

Experience serving as a system administrator for Microsoft O365, VMware, vSphere, NSX‑T, Linux Red Hat, Windows Server, SQL, MySQL, EMC SAN technologies and applications, Active Directory, AWS or Microsoft Azure.

Experience maintaining a high‑availability data center.

Active Secret Clearance

Location/Travel Requirements Based in Monterey, CA (Presidio of Monterey) with travel to additional sites including HI, AZ, CA, VA, and other CONUS/OCONUS locations as outlined in the PWS.

Salary Description $100,000 - $122,000
