Overview

The Government Affairs Director at the Minnesota Mechanical Contractors Association (MMCA) plays a critical role in advocating for the interests of the association's members within the governmental and regulatory landscape. This position involves developing and executing strategies to influence public policy, building relationships with key stakeholders, and staying abreast of both the legislative and executive branch developments that impact the mechanical contracting industry in Minnesota. Key Responsibilities

Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy: Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory proposals at the state and local levels that may impact the mechanical contracting industry. Develop and execute advocacy strategies to promote the interests of MMCA members. Establish and maintain relationships with elected officials, policymakers, and relevant government agencies. Policy Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the mechanical contracting industry. Provide timely and accurate analysis of proposed policies and their potential impact on MMCA members. Communication and Outreach: Serve as a spokesperson for MMCA on legislative and regulatory matters. Communicate effectively with members, government officials, and the public through various channels, including written communications, public speaking engagements, and media interactions. Coalition Building: Identify opportunities for collaboration with other industry associations, advocacy groups, and stakeholders to amplify MMCA's voice. Build and maintain strong coalitions to advance shared policy goals. Membership Engagement: Engage with MMCA members to understand their concerns and priorities. Provide regular updates on legislative and regulatory developments that impact the mechanical contracting industry. Attend relevant legislative and executive branch hearings, meetings, and industry events both in the metro and outstate-MN to represent MMCA's interests. Organize and facilitate advocacy events, workshops, and training sessions for members. Potential to sit on Executive Branch Committees. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Proven experience in Political Affairs, legislative advocacy, or a related role. Strong understanding of the legislative process and political landscape in Minnesota. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Knowledge of the mechanical contracting industry is a plus. Compensation
