Job Description
Works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents with planning and daily execution of the projects. They are responsible for seeing that projects run smoothly and efficiently by managing the process of submittal approvals, coordinating the timely delivery of materials, maintains logs, schedules, budgets and project safety initiatives. They must be flexible, adaptable, a team player, be a strong communicator, and possess task management and client service skills.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineers should be reporting to and consulting with their respective Project Managers.
Perform outreach to trade partners to promote project opportunities and generate interest - increasing bid coverage.
Participate in the subcontractor buyout and selection process.
Perform some project management responsibilities (with PM oversight), such as writing and administering subcontracts/exhibits, preparing cost forecasts, leading meetings & job walks, Q.C. coordination, etc.
Participate in aspects of the procurement process on the project.
Participate in OAC meetings and prepare meeting documents in addition to timely and accurate meeting minutes.
Estimate change orders and request pricing for PCC's and EWA's.
Lead the document control process: Distribute plans, specifications, drawings, permits, etc. to appropriate parties and maintain the drawing revision log.
Evaluate, prepare, and distribute appropriate RFI’s. Gather, prepare, review, and distribute submittals. Maintain accurate logs/records of the activities associated with these processes.
Monitor, measure, inspect and report on work put in place in the field (including SPW).
Perform Quality Control activities for installed materials or systems.
Assist with the resolution of challenges in the field.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with the project team, the client, owner’s representative, design team, subcontractors, and others.
Support the Superintendent in managing and updating the Project Schedule.
Manage the punch-list and close-out process; including warranty, O&M, and as-built documentation.
Take responsibility for any intern training or mentoring assignments.
Always promote the highest level of professionalism and ethics.
Ensure safety policies and procedures are in place and practiced.
Take notes during subcontractor meetings and disseminate minutes.
Review entire specifications and create logs for the following and maintain during course of the project. For each spec where applies
Pre-Installation meetings
Mockups
Testing
Quality control requirements
Post RFI’s, Bulletins, ASI’s in Procore to drawings and specs. Slipsheet any full-page revisions
At the beginning of a project upload drawings and specs into Procore. Regularly maintain documents in Procore so they are up to date
Beginning of a project create a submittal log
Work with Superintendent to ensure daily logs are maintained and accurate.
Participated in field and/or BIM coordination to ensure that any coordination issues are resolved prior to scheduled installation dates
Review project schedule and notify subcontractors who are not performing, showing up on scheduled start dates
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience in the construction industry is desired.
Fundamental knowledge of basic construction materials and methods.
Demonstrates effective communication to others in written and verbal format.
Basic understanding of the technical and business aspects of construction project management.
Understanding of the building permit approval process.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Etc.).
Proficient in the use of Bluebeam software.
Proficient in the use of Procore software.
