Overview
As Head of Poland COE, the role holder will oversee the site’s continued build out, supporting growth in capacity and capability and ensuring effective pull in of activities from other locations into Poland. As Head of Global COE Strategy, the role holder will be accountable for the long term design of the R&C COE model, including oversight of the global migrations team, and act as a senior partner to sub-functions and regions in shaping their COE footprint.
This is a highly visible role, requiring close collaboration with Global R&C COO, R&C CAO and other senior leaders to ensure alignment with location strategy, capacity planning and enterprise priorities. The role sets the tone for how the R&C COEs operate globally, driving excellence in execution, strong partnerships with onshore functions and clear alignment to enterprise wide strategy.
Accountabilities for Business, Customers and Stakeholders
Provide strategic leadership for the Poland COE, ensuring the site is build out as a leading hub for R&C activities aligned to global priorities.
Drive the global COE strategy, including design, governance and operating model standards across all strategic COE locations.
Oversee the global migrations team, ensuring effective and controlled transfer of activities from onshore to offshore sites.
Ensure COE activity design and build align to sub-function and regional location strategy plans, supporting real estate and capacity growth discussions where relevant.
Establish clear KPIs and reporting mechanisms to monitor COE performance, quality and contribution to enterprise goals.
Act as a senior face off to sub-function and regional leadership on all COE related matters, ensuring alignment, engagement and accountability.
Partner closely with CAO on capacity and capability planning, location strategy and enterprise workforce discussions from a COE perspective.
Leadership & Teamwork
Developing and communicating a powerful and compelling vision for the Risk & Compliance CoE that inspires and engages people with HSBC values and goals as the basis of an inclusive, high performance, customer-centred culture
Leading, developing and providing a stimulating work environment for local teams within Risk & Compliance CoE to attract key talent and develop critical capability to provide for succession and ensure delivery of business objectives
Developing and deploying individual contributor performance management frameworks to drive efficiencies
Setting expectations, sharing best practice and managing, monitoring, coaching and developing leaders to ensure that they enhance their performance and capabilities, while meeting required standards
Driving and encouraging constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork through collaboration and matrix management
Setting and maintaining the highest possible conduct standards across all aspects in the Risk & Compliance CoE Collaborating with respective HOST colleagues and business partners to ensure a united approach to global service delivery that prioritises client service and quality
Acting as a thought leader at executive management level in relation to areas of focus for R&C CoE’s
Championing the voice of the customer to build a culture of balancing commercial and client / customer imperatives at all times
Qualifications
Seasoned Operational and change leader with extensive experience operating at a senior managerial level within a shared service
Outstanding understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviours, processes and objectives
Understanding of the Group and the Risk & Compliance function, including policies, services, systems and processes.
Understanding of the services, structure and leadership of the current state Shared Service / GSC offering globally
Experience of managing operations with a clear understanding of the likely risk landscape and how best to build effective controls
Experienced change leader with proven experience of sponsoring complex change across multiple markets. Experience of Agile working and process optimisation activity is highly desirable
Outstanding organisational and planning skills with experience of management of multiple complex programmes/business transformations, with knowledge on when and how to re-prioritise, or escalate as required
Strong commercial mind-set to ensure build, interlock and oversight of all associated cost, budget, FTE and Governance related to multiple programmes of work across the region
Knowledge of the changing regulatory environment especially in the financial services sector
Strong influencer who can bring together disparate and virtual teams and coalesce them around a common goal
Advanced leadership, management, collaboration and coaching skills with experience of leading and directing cultural change within a large organisation
Proven problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative and innovative solutions
Strong relationship management and influencing skills, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels
Experience of senior management responsibility of a large function / portfolio.
