The Fund Controller will oversee all accounting, reporting, and compliance functions related to multiple private equity funds. This includes investment ROI analysis, capital calls, distributions, management fees, waterfall calculations, quarterly valuations, and audit support. The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and supervises a Fund Accountant.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures in line with industry best practices and GAAP.
Oversee and review all fund‑related activity, including management fees, revenue accruals, valuations, and intercompany transactions.
Manage fund administrators in preparing quarterly and annual financial statements, NAV packages, and waterfall schedules.
Coordinate audits and collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure timely completion.
Maintain cash flow projections and liaise with lenders regarding drawdowns, repayments, and covenant reporting.
Oversee investor reporting, capital calls, and distribution notices.
Ensure all investor and regulatory communications are accurate and compliant.
Support compliance and tax functions, including Form ADV, Form PF, 1099/1042 filings, and regulatory renewals.
Build and refine process controls to improve efficiency and data integrity.
Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
10+ years of relevant experience, including significant work in private equity; experience in media or entertainment is a plus.
Strong understanding of GAAP and private equity accounting principles.
Proficiency with cloud‑based enterprise accounting software; Sage Intacct experience preferred.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to handle confidential information with discretion.
