We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented
Controller
to oversee and manage our financial operations. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of NEXT’s financial processes. This role will work closely with third‑party bookkeepers and CPAs, manage reporting and compliance requirements, and support strategic decision‑making through budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
This is a
part‑time position
(approximately 20 hours per week) ideal for a finance professional seeking flexibility while contributing meaningfully to a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee preparation of financial statements in coordination with third‑party bookkeepers
Manage annual tax filings in collaboration with external CPAs
Handle occasional city/state filings and tax payments
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and pro forma P&L statements
Develop and maintain revenue reporting and advisor payout calculations
Coordinate billing processes and ensure timely collections
Compliance & Corporate Administration
Manage corporate entity filings and servicer payments
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Oversee payroll processing and 401(k) administration
Implement and leverage FP&A tools (e.g., Datarails) to create new reporting and analytics
Provide insights to support strategic and operational decision‑making
Other Duties
Perform any additional tasks necessary to maintain the corporate financial health of the business
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including Controller‑level responsibilities
Strong knowledge of GAAP and corporate tax compliance
Proficiency with accounting software and FP&A tools (experience with Datarails a plus)
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a part‑time capacity
Competitive part‑time salary Range: $70,000/yr - $90,000/yr, based on experience and qualifications.
