Who We Are The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services including Information Technology project delivery, maintenance and support. This position is with the Agency Services area of DTMB supporting the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).

About The Position As a Senior Database Administrator, you will perform daily operational database analyst assignments. You will assist senior database administrators with designing, developing, testing, and implementing database systems for LARA. Responsibilities include:

Design, install, and implement physical and virtual databases.

Support and maintain numerous databases and services.

Write complex scripts, perform performance tuning, and troubleshoot.

Assist in planning, design, and implementation of security measures.

Research patches and upgrades and resolve database issues.

Assist clients and agency staff, application development teams, data architects, and business data stewards.

Position Location / Remote Office The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan offers a hybrid work option requiring two days on‑site and three days remote per week.

Signing Bonus This position may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $2,500, split 50/50: $1,250 paid upon new hire and the remainder after a 12‑month probationary period. The bonus applies only to the following classifications: Information Technology Infrastructure Analyst, Information Technology Programmer/Analyst, Information Technology Project Coordinator, Information Technology Project Manager, Information Technology Specialist.

Education Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 32 semester credits in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

Experience Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11. Alternatively, an associate’s degree with 16 semester credits and two years of experience as a programmer, computer operator, or IT technician.
