Apparel Designer
Our client a Men’s Apparel brand out of Austin, Texas is looking for a talented Apparel Designer. The role will be to work across all apparel categories to deliver new products and ensure designs are aligned with the brand's DNA and goals from concept to completion.
Responsibilities
Work closely with brand leadership and senior designers to develop strategy and scope of our seasonal cut and sew collection that is consistent with market trends and brand aesthetic.
Partner with the merchandising and planning teams to manage the product development process from sampling to production with a focus on calendar and costing.
Research and interpret trends in styling, color, fabrics and findings for seasonal concepts relevant to the Howler customer. Provide innovative ideas and new concepts to build a strong and exciting collection seasonally.
Help maintain and adhere to seasonal design and development calendar.
Develop and maintain style tech packs in PLM system. Oversee product and detail sketches, maintain detailed BOMs, and provide clear comments for manufacturing partners. Provide help updating as subject‑matter expert in terms of product.
Maintain physical design boards throughout the season; ensure that updates are reflected on category boards digitally and on physical boards in the design studio.
Work with overseas partners on the development and research of new fabrics that fit into the pricing structure established from merchandising and to facilitate fabric and trim research and development.
Help with the preparation of materials and presentation of concepts and work for seasonal/milestone meetings.
Help maintain CAD library seasonally and edit/modify graphic designs in Adobe Suite.
Works collaboratively with production team, tech department, and merchandising to bring brand‑right product to the market in a timely manner.
Review and comment on sampling and production trims and fabrics.
Communicate with sourcing offices in Asia and factories regarding style details/changes in a clear and concise manner.
Be able to travel when appropriate both domestically and internationally.
Requirements
Minimum 5+ years design experience with involvement in multiple product categories.
College degree in Fashion Design or related field.
Skilled in Adobe suite, with a focus on Adobe illustrator.
Ability to learn how to use new productivity software (e.g., PLM system); experience in PLM software systems (Centric) a plus.
Strong design and conceptual skills in menswear with a knack for style and color.
Resourceful, creative and efficient when faced with multiple projects or challenging deadlines.
