Description for Candidates
Perform technical surveys for a wide variety of transportation projects. Ensure surveys are completed in compliance with VDOT, state and federal policies, procedures and regulations.
Provide accurate data from aerial imagery for the generation of surveys used for a wide range of transportation projects.
Obtain data and check quality through the use of advanced digital photogrammetric workstations and photogrammetric and survey processes and procedures.
How you will contribute
Computer Skills: Establish and apply procedures to manage the history, locations, access and format of survey related project files. Complete work processes using multiple survey, CADD, and digital terrain modeling software, as well as other non-CADD applications.
Computer skills: Complete work processes using various photogrammetric, survey and digital terrain modeling hardware and software applications; as well as other non-engineering hardware and software. Maintain project computer files.
Engineering Surveys: Conduct a wide range of field survey activities for transportation projects from scoping to post-construction. Follow VDOT policies and procedures and APELSCIDLA rules and regulations governing survey activities. Use a variety of surveying equipment and tools to locate and record field data. Conduct courthouse research on plats.
Photogrammetry: Complete photogrammetric element on a wide range of transportation projects from location study through post construction. Apply photogrammetric and survey principles and practices to achieve project requirements.
Quality Control: Perform quality control reviews of work products, both in the field and office, to ensure products are accurate and depict the project controls and data to support the project. View plans or plats at the different developmental stages for compliance to standards.
Time Management: Perform surveying and mapping functions in accordance with project scheduling and in support of VDOT programs. Perform tasks on one or more projects, adjusting priorities as needed. Coordinate the flow of information, both orally and in writing, to and from others, to contribute to project development.
