The Shipping & Receiving Technician performs various shipping & receiving duties with minimal supervision while preparing, verifying and keeping records on all incoming and outgoing shipments.
Essential Job Functions
Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records. Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment. Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers, using spacers, foam, bubble wrap. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages. Routes items to departments for incoming material. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet customer or regulatory specifications. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Operates fork-lift truck or uses pallet jack to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving to storage or departments. May directs others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments. Coordinates with purchasing to ensure delivery of material and updates work in progress report to reflect current status. Reviews work in progress report and work orders. Delivery of product to customers or suppliers in Company van. Job Classification Requirements
High School graduate with above average math and mechanical aptitude. Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor. Ability to exert between 10 and 50 pounds on occasional basis. Quality oriented & conscious. Always adheres to Company safety policies. Requires decision making skills. Exhibits characteristics of good role-model. Reliable with excellent attendance record. Requires advanced training through in-house and/or external training methods.
