Job Description Research Associate responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the US Pharmaceutical sector.

What will you do?

Provide research support to the Senior Analyst

Develop an expertise in the US Pharmaceutical sector and covered companies

Assist in the development of detailed company‑specific models as well as macro/market models

Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases

Support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector & coverage

Establish and maintain relationships with coverage companies, investors and internal colleagues within RBC Capital Markets

Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business

Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities

Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis

What do you need to succeed? Basic Qualifications

Undergraduate degree or similar qualification with a focus on Business, Finance, Mathematics or other quantitative fields

NYSE Licensing Requirements – Series 7, 63, 86 & 87, SIE

Other Qualifications

Advanced degree in life sciences/therapeutics is an asset

Prior work experience in capital markets, equity research, or investment banking; Previous exposure to the Pharmaceutical sector a plus

Understanding of accounting and financial modeling concepts/techniques

Excellent writing and communication skills

Strong computer skills (Excel) with ability to quickly learn new platforms

Detail oriented with solid analytical skills and ability to synthesize data points into trends beyond the mainstream

Energetic, self‑motivated and an ability to perform under pressure and meet time‑sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time

Demonstrated passion for equity/financial markets

Solid understanding of financial/stock market

AUTHORITIES, IMPACT, RISK

Regular interaction with clients

Supporting Senior Analyst

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Internal clients including sales and trading

External clients as required

The work environment is based on an office/trading floor, thus little physical effort is required

The good‑faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company‑matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time‑off plan.
