Job Summary We are a wholesale cash-and-carry foodservice distributor providing savings, selection & service to restaurants, caterers and not‑for‑profits across 37 states.
The Assistant Floor Manager works closely with the Floor Manager to ensure products are sale‑ready, maintained with strict freshness policies and HACCP guidelines, and to develop customer relationships that drive sales while minimizing losses.
Essential Functions
Demonstrate teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction and a safe working and shopping environment.
Provide friendly and efficient customer service with patience and respect.
Communicate effectively with customers and respond promptly to questions and requests.
Operate equipment (box cutter, knives, scales, compactor, Hi‑los, scooters, scissor lifts) according to company and OSHA guidelines.
Follow product handling procedures in accordance with company and HACCP policy.
Assist with product presentation, rotation, labeling, and replenishment.
Maintain in‑stock position of available product and monitor inventory levels through cycle counts.
Maintain knowledge of all warehouse equipment.
Demonstrate high operational execution and product knowledge.
Ensure consistent execution of departmental operating procedures in accordance with Corporate Audit.
Use suggestive selling techniques to increase sales.
Communicate code‑dating issues and shrink opportunities and monitor product quality to reduce shrink.
Plan work duties during the shift to accomplish all assigned tasks; maintain high cleanliness standards.
Assist department manager with interviewing, hiring, and scheduling.
Adhere to all applicable laws and company guidelines; report all food safety and security incidents.
Assist general team members as needed.
Assist in other warehouse areas upon request.
Perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Experience and Skills Required
Develop and train team members and build relationships.
Deliver outstanding customer service.
Manage warehouse operations effectively and efficiently.
Communicate clearly, listen attentively, and instruct team members.
Operate all required equipment.
Work in a fast‑paced warehouse environment.
Prior warehouse, retail, or customer service experience is a plus.
Operate handheld scanners, desktop computers, and calculators.
Physical Demands
Walk/stand on concrete up to 10 hours per day.
Frequently turn, stand, reach, stoop, and bend.
Frequently push/pull objects 500 to 1,500 lbs.
Frequently lift/carry objects more than 60 lbs.
Work Environment
Frequent exposure to cold/freezing temperatures.
Work with moving equipment (forklifts, electric pallet jacks, scooters).
