Assistant Bakery Manager role at HAC, Inc. is an employee-owned company committed to quality food, local sourcing, and investing in employee owners. The position supports the Store Manager, Co-Manager, and Bakery Manager in executing Company programs and procedures for the Bakery Department.
Responsibilities
Create an environment where customers feel welcomed and informed about products sold in the department and store. Reinforce Company philosophy, policies, and procedures by personal example. Maximize departmental sales and profit with a friendly, well-trained, customer-responsive team that is visible on the salesfloor. Work with the Bakery/Deli Department to ensure programs are followed. Develop as a candidate for promotion to Bakery Manager. Work a rotating shift including night and weekend shifts to meet peak business needs, with schedule changes at the Store/Bakery Manager’s discretion. Attend shifts on time and maintain attendance as essential functions. Review displays for freshness, rotate stock, control loss, and maintain presentation of the Bakery Department, displays, seasonal areas, and endcaps. Collaborate on timely execution of merchandising programs (planograms, seasonal sets, endcaps, seasonal flex areas). Develop a total department plan by integrating merchandising programs and seeking ideas to improve presentation levels. Maintain in-stock levels in collaboration with the Bakery Manager and Bakery/Deli Specialist; coordinate with District/Store Managers on overstock balancing. Control rotation, shelf life, and distressed merchandise; adjust prices to prevent loss as needed. Maintain cleanliness of the department and store; establish efficient organization for coolers and follow cleaning schedules for equipment. Perform daily equipment inspections and cleaning; monitor technical equipment. Assist with staffing, recruiting, and selecting qualified teammates using company guidelines. Schedule to meet business needs (truck processing, planograms, price changes, peak events). Monitor and approve department expenditures; provide ideas to reduce expenses. Provide sales and controllable expense information during budgeting periods. Communicate store policies, procedures, and programs; ensure teammates understand job requirements. Maintain attendance and performance records to support fair evaluations with the Store Manager. Participate in inventory management from purchases to sales, promotions, price changes, and clearance; ensure proper shrink control. Contribute to achieving high customer service, sales, productivity, and profitability; perform other duties as assigned. Supervision Received

REQUIRED: Basic mathematical ability and counting; ability to follow complex verbal instructions and store/department procedures. Stable work and educational history. Ability to read and write English; able to read instructions, labels, codes, reports, invoices. Good interpersonal communication. Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent. Prior related experience. Experience operating various equipment (baler, case cutter, cleaning/sanitation equipment, pallet jack, intercom, pricing gun, knife, slicer, scales, cash register, steam table, wrapper, fryer and stove) with age restrictions noted (must be 18+ for some equipment).
