Night shift 7p-7a covering a 24/7 busy cardiology service line. Cardiology experience preferred. Summary A Physician Assistant functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
Clinical - Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests/results, develops differential diagnoses, and implements treatment plans including prescribing/ordering appropriate evidence-based pharmacological agents in line with guidelines and privileging. Schedules follow-up management and engages in preventive health screening as appropriate.
Education - Educates clients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up; collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity of care; develops educational materials; provides education to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students; pursues self-learning needs and attends education programs.
Leadership - Provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, and students; participates in community outreach; develops/leads outreach programs; applies healthcare system knowledge to improve delivery; leads or participates in system improvements.
Professional - Interacts with patients and families in a respectful, courteous and timely fashion; collaborates with coworkers to meet patient care needs; responds quickly to needs; shares responsibility for outcomes and workload with the team.
Quality/Research - Engages in daily quality improvement, consults with management on issues, leads interdisciplinary teams for integrated care, updates protocols to reflect evidence-based changes, and develops new clinical programs.
Other Information Education Requirements:
Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in the state of North Carolina; board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
Professional Experience Requirements:
No prior experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated clinical competency; effective leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills; effective interaction to ensure patient care; documentation for accurate billing.
