Overview 2025/2026 School Year: Multi-Site Coordinator for Before & After School Programming. This supervisory role works with children ages 5–12 in two school-age programs (TJ Connor Elementary & Cal-Mum Elementary). The position requires supervisory experience, organizational skills, a positive demeanor, and a commitment to being a positive role model for youth.

Position Details Location: Cal-Mum Afterschool Program and TJ Connor Before & After School Program.

Position Type: Part-time, non-exempt. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:15–8:30am and 2:00–6:00pm (approximately 30–35 hours per week). Availability for staff meetings/trainings (scheduled in advance). September through June, with supplemental summer work available through Summer Camp and/or Summer Recreation. Under the guidance of the Youth Development Director, Site Coordinators provide direction to children and oversee program staff.

Responsibilities

Implement curriculum within established guidelines.

Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans.

Supervise children, the classroom, and all activities.

Make ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.

Conduct family conferences and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with families. Engage families as volunteers.

Maintain program site and equipment; maintain required program records.

Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.

Promote the physical, intellectual, social, cultural and emotional well-being of children; work with staff to plan and implement activities.

Provide direct leadership to the assigned group(s) and maintain constant visual contact with all assigned children.

Assist children in completing tasks during daily activities, including land and water-based activities; assess child abilities and developmental stages.

Build enthusiasm for activities and programs; recruit and engage families as appropriate.

Complete required documentation regarding attendance, health and wellness, sign-in/sign-out, and notify families if children are not in attendance.

Keep program areas neat and organized; follow all safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Maintain professional relationships with children, families, school/day care partners, and YMCA staff; project a positive image of the YMCA and the program.

Collaborate on recruitment and special events; participate in YMCA camp days and alternate program locations as scheduled.

Qualifications

Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law. School Age Child Care Clearance per NYS regulations as required.

At least 18 years of age to work in Prime Time and Child Watch.

High school diploma or GED preferred; additional educational requirements may be necessary per the regulating agency.

CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and required training within 60 days of hire date.

Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.

Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate activities.

Experience with diverse populations and ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

Physical Demands Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities; vision, hearing, speech and movement abilities required to supervise children safely.
