Overview Senior Data Engineer at Delta Defense, you will take on a leadership role that directly supports our mission by developing strategic data solutions that empower decision-making and enhance business capabilities. You will lead in creating cutting-edge data and process strategies, advance the Enterprise Data Warehouse, and enable comprehensive reporting of key performance indicators, metrics, and insights. You will lead complex projects, mentor junior team members, and champion innovation in data engineering practices.
Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Architecture - Architect and develop data pipelines to optimize data quality, performance, and scalability.
Data Infrastructure Design - Design and build systems to collect and process data, ensuring clean, tested, and reusable datasets for analysis.
Data Transformation Standards - Establish standards for data transformations and data formats.
Data Quality Standards - Establish data quality standards, including data profiling methodologies, to maintain and enhance data integrity.
Engineering Best Practices - Implement CI/CD, unit testing, performance testing, and optimization.
Collaboration with Data Architecture - Partner with the Data Architecture team to ensure quality and consistency of the data model.
Data Infrastructure Utilization - Leverage existing data infrastructure to fulfill data-related requests, perform data housekeeping, cleansing, normalization, hashing, and implement necessary data model changes.
Data Analysis and Troubleshooting - Analyze data to identify anomalies, trends, and correlations; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
PII and Risk Adherence - Apply best practices related to PII and adhere to organizational risk policies and standards.
Leadership and Mentorship - Lead and mentor junior team members in their development.
Additional Responsibilities - Perform other duties to support organizational goals.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science/Analytics, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in data engineering.
2+ years of dbt experience.
5+ years of SQL experience.
2+ years in a business intelligence role (desired).
Experience with AWS cloud technologies (S3, EMR).
3+ years of experience in Agile SDLC.
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT methodologies.
Proficiency with Git and CI/CD workflows (GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI).
3+ years of writing clean, well-documented Python code.
Understanding of analytical data modeling techniques; Data Vault experience preferred.
Demonstrates Delta Defense core values.
