Purpose of Division
The Operations Division consists of the Airport Operations Centers (AOC), Airside and Landside Operations, Security, and the Airport Badging Office at William P. Hobby Airport. The team works around the clock ensuring a safe, secure, and efficient customer experience from the roadway to the runway. The Operations Division is also the liaison to key stakeholders such as TSA, HFD, HPD, FAA, and other agencies ensuring the highest level of safety and security for our customers.
Responsibilities
The Senior Landside Agent maintains a safe and efficient airport environment for passengers and personnel by conducting landside road inspections, regulatory investigations, and responding to airport incidents. The Senior Landside Agent provides support to security incidents, assists with traffic management, and acts in a lead capacity to Landside Agents for enforcement of safety, security, and airport rules/regulations, ensuring a seamless flow of passenger and vehicle movement.
Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Inspection of airport access roads and tenant facilities; prepare inspection and investigation reports; report to management unsafe conditions, policy, and procedure violations, and take corrective action as needed.
Report to management tenant activities not in compliance with airport leases, contracts, standards, policies, and procedures.
Inspect commercial vehicles and enforce compliance of applicable regulations; issue citations and initiate vehicle towing.
Act as an Operations field liaison during emergencies; support operational activities and maintain order during emergencies, following the Airport Emergency Plan and other airport rules and regulations.
Follow the Airport Security Plan; support security activities and maintain reports of all incidents requiring response from Landside Operations.
Perform traffic and curbside management tasks and enforce parking regulations.
Assist in training Landside Agents and may assume the role of an Airport Operations Supervisor‑Landside.
Contribute to the team by performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances while working at the airport.
Working Conditions
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending, light lifting up to 20 pounds, working in various uncomfortable climates, and exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances. Walking and standing for extended periods are required.
Education Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Airway Science, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
Experience Requirements
Two years of experience in airport operations, airport security, airport safety, and/or any other customer service‑related field is required. Directly related professional experience in airport operations/security or customer service may substitute for the above education requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.
License Requirements
Requires a valid Class C Texas Driver’s license and compliance with COH policies on driving.
Preferences
Preference will be given to applicants with two years or more of experience in aviation operations, airports, airline, air traffic control, or military. Consideration will be given to applicants with directly related experience in a stressful environment, law enforcement, security, military, emergency management, customer service, and administrative skills within an aviation setting.
Selection Process and Skills Tests
The selection process will involve application review and/or interview. The Department may administer a skills assessment test.

YES – This position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test.
