Director of Product Marketing

to lead and elevate our team. This is a high‑impact role at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and execution. As Director of Product Marketing, you’ll establish Product Marketing as the strategic hub for advisor, market, and competitive intelligence—ensuring insights directly shape how we build, position, and deliver our products. You’ll serve as the cross‑functional orchestrator across

Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success , aligning teams around a shared understanding of our market and customers. You and the team will own the full go‑to‑market (GTM) lifecycle—from market, customer, and competitor insights to messaging, positioning, launch strategy/execution, sales enablement, and KPI measurement. Your leadership will drive how Altruist tells its story, differentiates in the marketplace, and empowers advisers to succeed.

What you will do

Lead the PMM team.

Define clear roles, expectations, and success metrics. Set a high bar for strategic excellence and flawless execution while creating a culture of collaboration and accountability. Maintain a relentless focus on a GTM process that drives a best‑in‑class adviser experience.

Build the insights program.

Establish a repeatable cadence for gathering voice‑of‑customer (VOC) insights, from advisers, prospects, and platform users, as well as win/loss analyses and market intelligence. Translate findings into actionable recommendations that shape product strategy and roadmap. Establish a feedback process between Sales, CS, PMM, and Product to ensure market learnings directly influence GTM decisions.

Create the ICP.

Develop a segmentation framework that identifies our highest‑value ideal customer profiles (ICP). Map segment‑specific needs and pain points to value propositions, use cases, and differentiated benefits that inform GTM strategy, content development, and launch campaigns.

Craft compelling positioning and messaging.

Own Altruist’s external narrative—translating complex clearing and custody capabilities into adviser‑first benefits. Build messaging frameworks, value props, and proof points tailored to our key segments.

Own end‑to‑end GTM.

Design and drive the company‑wide GTM process—from segmentation and positioning to planning, launch, and sales enablement. Lead major launches and cross‑functional alignment. Define success metrics, optimize adoption, and monitor AUM metrics.

Enable Sales team.

Partner with Content to deliver field‑ready collateral—pitches, webinars, thought leadership, and lead magnets—that accelerate pipeline velocity. Measure and optimize performance through asset usage, seller proficiency, influenced pipeline, win rates, and sales cycle improvements.

Drive pipeline.

Collaborate with Growth Marketing to launch ICP‑driven demand gen programs grounded in segment pain points and value props to deliver high‑quality MQLs.

Required experience and education

10+ years in B2B product marketing with leadership roles in high‑growth, late‑stage startups; fintech/wealthtech or adjacent regulated industries preferred.

Proven PMM builder. Demonstrated ability to build and scale a PMM function: hire and develop talent; define roles and career paths; establish operating rhythms, decision frameworks, and quality standards; elevate PMM’s strategic influence with Product, Sales, Marketing, and CS.

Launch leadership. Track record leading complex, multi‑product launches with measurable results; optimizing GTM end‑to‑end—from insights and positioning to pricing/packaging, enablement, and post‑launch impact measurement.

Storytelling excellence. Converts complex data/technology into clear, differentiated, adviser‑first narratives and value propositions.

Cross‑functional leadership. Builds trust and alignment across Product, Sales, Marketing, CS, and RevOps; adept at orchestrating work across teams.

Executive presence and communication. Credible with C‑suite and board; influences decisions with clear, data‑backed narratives.

San Francisco, CA salary range

$164,000—$226,000 USD

Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package along with equity in the form of Stock Options (ISOs) for eligible roles.
