Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. Overtime is eligible for hours over 40 per workweek. A provisional salary may be set at 5% below the minimum rate until ADEQ certification is obtained.

We Require

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of heavy-duty and off-road equipment mechanic experience
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by Arizona
  • Drug and alcohol testing before employment and ongoing per County policy and FTA Regulations
  • Must obtain ADEQ emissions certification within 90 days of hire to perform emissions testing and compliance activities
  • Must possess the tools required to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks and equipment

  • Class A or B CDL with Hazmat Endorsement
  • Completion of a recognized heavy-duty equipment/diesel technician training program

Job Contributions

  • Inspect, diagnose, and perform complex repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including engine systems, electrical/electronic components, braking, climate control, drivetrain, suspension, and body systems
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and ensure safety compliance and operational readiness
  • Perform minor fabrication to modify or reinforce components
  • Promote and maintain a safe, compliant work environment
  • Maintain service records and repair documentation for fleet tracking
  • Consult with supervisors on vehicle problems and diagnostics
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Office/field or customer-facing work
  • Physical exertion: lifting up to 50-100 pounds occasionally; other weights vary
  • Possible exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, and moving parts
  • Travel may be required
