Summary We are a rapidly growing crypto-currency based company, looking to hire our second in-house counsel attorney. We currently have our General Counsel, who you would be working with closely and assisting on a wide range of matters related to our business.

Responsibilities

Provide legal support and advice across the organization on all legal, compliance and regulatory matters involving the company.

Draft and negotiate a range of agreements in support of business initiatives and employment matters, including employment related agreements, independent contractor agreements, lease agreements, vendor agreements and general commercial contracts.

Assist the sales team when negotiating deals from a legal perspective

Resolve disputes with partners, including enforcement of non-compete provisions.

Assist with HR-related legal matters/best practices.

Perform legal research and draft memoranda to assist General Counsel and business partners on various matters, including marketing issues, employment/HR matters, licensing, and regulatory compliance.

Advise on data privacy and data security matters and support the implementation of related policies and procedures.

Assist with federal and state licensing (in particular, state money transmitter licenses), regulatory inquiries and examinations.

Provide support on general corporate matters.

Track changes to applicable laws, regulations and guidance from state and federal agencies to ensure ongoing compliance.

Work with business and compliance partners to develop, implement, and improve policies and procedures as the company rapidly grows.

Review and negotiate insurance policies.

Required skills

Bar membership in good standing in Illinois (or eligible to be a Registered-In-House Counsel in Illinois)

2+ years of experience as an attorney focusing on commercial/corporate matters

Experience in contract review and negotiation

General understanding of, and an interest in cryptocurrency (professional experience not required)

Some experience with compliance, KYC or AML

Preferred Skills

Experience and knowledge of regulations for cryptocurrency and fintech companies

Experience with state money transmitter licenses

Knowledge or experience of labor law

Knowledge or experience with general corporate matters

Knowledge or experience of insurance law/policies
