Position Summary The individual serves as a Course Director for multiple courses in the UIC Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, including PT 600, PT 622, PT 624, and PT 625. Responsibilities include designing, coordinating, and delivering lectures, labs, and examinations aligned with course objectives. As the Assistant Director of Clinical Education, the individual supports clinical education operations by identifying new internship sites, matching students with clinical placements, conducting site visits, facilitating evaluations, and providing ongoing student support.
Responsibilities
Course Director for PT 600 Introduction to Physical Therapy, PT 622 Psychosocial Theory I, PT 624 Therapeutic Applications, PT 625 Professional Development
Develop, coordinate, and disseminate lectures, labs, written exams, and practical exams related to the established course objectives
Assistant Director of Clinical Education
Assist the Director of Clinical Education in identifying new clinical internship sites, matching students with clinical internship sites, facilitating clinical site visits and CPI discussions with students and clinical instructors, providing support to students during clinical internships, reviewing mid-term and final CPI assessments
UIC Department of Physical Therapy Academic Support
UIC DPT Student Advisor
Assist faculty members in guest lecturing and as lab assistant, review capstone projects
Assist in annual admissions reviews
Serve as DPT CSPP Committee Member
Serve as SUSTAIN Coalition Member
Serve as DPT co-representative for CAIPPER Inter professional Education Curriculum Committee
Pride in Every Step: UIC LGBTQ+ Affirming Physical Wellness Program Committee Member
Co-lead and continued development of initiatives related to improving affirming care and education in support of physical health and wellness of LGBTQ+ patients, students, faculty, and staff
Research
Maintain a scholarly research and publication agenda
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
A doctorate in exercise science, kinesiology, community health, or a field related to physical therapy
Certification in national health behavior counseling/wellness coaching or personal training
Experience working with BIPOC and other underrepresented populations to develop connections and partnerships across various stakeholder groups, including communities, students, and faculty
Experience teaching courses in health promotion, wellness, and exercise science
Proven experience in developing and facilitating programs and workshops. The ability to lead, design, and implement community-engaged research initiatives focused on wellness
A strong teaching background that incorporates creative online pedagogy
