Job Description

GEICO is seeking

Finance Data Specialists

to support the build out of a

Finance Data Warehouse/Lake

by partnering with both Finance and Technology teams to redesign how they use their technologies in managing GEICO's business. This individual must have a strong functional and technical Finance Systems background to partner with the Business, ensuring effective discussions to drive the capture, transformation, and utilization of Finance data to meet Business goals. The

Staff Engineer, Finance Data Specialist

will report to the Senior Manager of Finance Data & Analytics and will provide solutions on how to build out, maintain, and support a Finance Data repository to support FP&A processing and analytics while also supporting the larger Finance organization’s need for Finance data. The Finance Data Specialist will work with multiple Finance and Technology leaders to support the build out of the company’s Finance Data Warehouse/Lake to provide a central repository for all Financial related transactions so it can be a reconciled source of truth for processing and the source for Revenue and Expense analytics. This role is also accountable to support the delivery of technology solutions that will support FP&A Planning/Budgeting, financial reporting, Revenue/Expense Analytics, and the build out of the Finance Data Warehouse to become a reconciled source to allow the GL to become a “thin” ledger. The ideal candidate has deep Finance Systems experience across multiple companies, a

background in ERP and Finance Data Warehouses

from both technical and functional aspects and has supported the deployment of best practices leveraging their broad knowledge of various

ERPs (e.g. Oracle; Workday; SAP or PeopleSoft) . Prior Financial Systems experience is needed to be considered.

Responsibilities

Leverage strong Functional and Technical systems expertise to drive toward the right solution to support the department and GEICO’s current and future needs Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle Support design sessions with peers to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet Business expectations Collaborate with Finance Leaders within FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, and Finance QA & Systems teams along with Data Engineering and Finance Technology leaders to ensure organizational goals are met Establish a vision and technology roadmap to build out a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse Understand finance data lake/mart, data processing, and data transformation using ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, DBT, etc. Design, develop, implement, and maintain data ingestion and transformation solutions Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent) Develop a roadmap and implement Revenue and Expense analytics solutions Engage with customers and stakeholders to align expectations Support and maintain a strong governance framework for SOX and Audit reviews Facilitate Business and Technology discussions to align on long-term goals Translate business/functional specifications into technical specifications Share best practices and improve processes across teams

Qualifications

15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft) 3+ years of FP&A applications implementation and support (Preferred) 3+ years with Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and Financial Reporting tools Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, DBT, etc.) Strong SQL skills for writing, debugging, and optimizing queries and ETL jobs Experience with Financials via major vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP) Finance domain expertise to interpret processes into system solutions Knowledge of FP&A Budgeting, Planning, and forecasting Experience implementing or supporting Revenue or Expense analytics via Power BI, Tableau, etc. Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations to partner with Finance Ability to communicate with users across Technology and Finance Project management knowledge and best practices Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Understanding of SDLC and ability to work independently or in a team

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent education or work experience

Salary and Benefits

Annual Salary: $115,000.00 - $260,000.00 The above salary range is a general guideline. Final offer depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, location, and market considerations. At this time, GEICO will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
