Job Title Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Reports To Senior Operations Manager

Location Bowling Green, KY

Position Summary The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers to improve manufacturing processes, enhance product quality, and optimize production efficiency within an aftermarket automotive manufacturing environment. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports new product introductions, and ensures that manufacturing systems meet the company’s safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and industrial engineers.

Coordinate cross-functional efforts between production, quality, maintenance, and design engineering.

Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for engineering and process improvements.

Process Improvement

Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to reduce waste, improve throughput, and ensure consistent quality.

Implement lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Evaluate and integrate new technologies and automation to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

Collaborate with product engineering and R&D to ensure seamless transition of new products into production.

Develop manufacturing process documentation, work instructions, and tooling requirements for new products.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure processes comply with ISO, IATF 16949, and other applicable standards.

Partner with Quality to address root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues.

Maintain strong adherence to safety and environmental standards.

Equipment & Tooling

Oversee design, specification, and acquisition of production equipment and tooling.

Manage preventive maintenance and capital improvement projects.

Data & Cost Management

Develop and manage departmental budgets for engineering projects and capital expenditures.

Use data-driven analysis to justify investments and process changes.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.

Experience:

7–10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role within the automotive or aftermarket manufacturing industry.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in CAD/CAM, process simulation, and ERP systems.

Strong understanding of machining, assembly, casting, fabrication, and/or performance automotive parts manufacturing.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC).

Soft Skills:

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Improvement in production efficiency and scrap reduction.

Successful execution of capital projects on time and within budget.

Reduction in downtime and manufacturing costs.

Achievement of quality and delivery targets.

Team development and retention.
