French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Manager for our Geotechnical department for our Newark, NJ office.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies, providing technical advice and strategic direction as needed.
Oversee the design and analysis of geotechnical aspects of projects including foundation design, slope stability, soil mechanics, earth retaining structures, and groundwater management.
Supervise and mentor junior engineers, geologists, and technicians, ensuring their professional development and adherence to company standards.
Prepare and review geotechnical investigation reports, feasibility studies, and technical specifications for clients and contractors.
Ensure high standards of quality control, review project deliverables, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Develop project budgets, track project costs, and monitor schedules, proactively addressing any issues that could impact project delivery.
Assist in identifying new business opportunities, preparing proposals, and supporting marketing initiatives to grow the geotechnical division.
Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and maintain the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field required.
Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey required (or the ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable time frame).
Additional certifications such as Geo-technical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or related are a plus.
At least 8 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on project management and leadership.
Experience with geotechnical site investigations, foundation design, soil-structure interaction, and remedial solutions.
Prior experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and interacting with clients.
Strong technical expertise in geotechnical engineering, including software tools for analysis.
Proficient in project management software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (including occasional overnight stays).
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Compensation The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
