Description Supervises, oversees, organizes schedules and evaluates assigned subordinates in specific areas or shifts in the Department of Radiology. These staff are engaged in performing radiology procedures and performs duties of subordinates as necessary.

Responsibilities

Professional position supervising a professional and technical staff at Mount Sinai Brooklyn, Department of Radiology.

Manage all technical and support activities of the Radiology Department which provides inpatient, outpatient, and emergency radiological services.

Oversee and manage the overall operations of the department. Organize, direct, and control day‑to‑day activities of a large multi‑faceted radiology department.

Responsible for clinical areas including diagnostic, special procedures, ultrasound, CT scans, and nuclear medicine.

Prepare and maintain work schedules, adjusting as necessary for illness, vacations, emergencies, backlog, or examinations.

Interview, hire, discipline, and discharge subordinates; train, review, and evaluate their work.

Supervise radiology technicians, providing assistance when needed and evaluating work to ensure compliance with radiology procedures and safety requirements.

Develop and administer department policies and procedures regarding work processes, scheduling, and safety.

Review employee time cards, calculate time worked, and ensure appropriate time‑off records; authorize overtime when assigned.

Maintain adequate levels of approved supplies and evaluate quality and cost‑effectiveness of new or replacement supplies.

Ensure equipment in assigned areas is maintained in safe, operating condition and perform monthly quality control testing.

Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with physicians and patient‑care departments to exchange information, resolve problems (e.g., lost film), and improve services.

Ensure optimum utilization of resources to meet objective costs effectively and efficiently to maximize patient care.

Analyze and control statistical and fiscal management systems to meet departmental goals via budget development, based on patient needs and projected growth.

Maintain patient/employee confidentiality at all times.

Maintain competence in hospital standards, including in‑service and continuing education.

Maintain competence in regulatory agencies and hospital mandated programs.

Serve as liaison for the Department of Radiology with other clinical departments.

Participate in the department’s performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

Graduate of an J.R.C.E.R.T. approved School of Radiologic Technology.

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred.

Current Radiologic NYS DOH License and registration.

ARRT certification.

BLS certification (American Heart Association).

Minimum of 5 years Radiology management experience.

Compensation The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $71,713 – $135,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need.
