Family Health Centers at NYU Langone is a Level 3 Medical Home and the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State. The network includes eight primary care sites, 40 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation’s largest dental residency program, and New York State’s largest behavioral health program. The network also provides care through 12 community medicine sites, comprehensive HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center offering educational, vocational, and other social support programs. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Hygienist. The Dental Hygienist provides preventive dental services, education and treatment for patients, participates in community educational programs, and performs expanded functions as allowed by state law. Job Responsibilities

Participates in patient education programs in the community. Evaluates patients’ oral hygiene and dental health and makes preventive dental recommendations. Provides oral prophylaxis and scaling of teeth with cavitron and hand instruments. Provides oral hygiene instructions through individual patient health education, including dental caries prevention, proper tooth brushing and flossing techniques, and nutritional guidance. Assists dentists in charting, processing patient forms and records, and facilitates the patient reappointment process. Applies topical fluoride treatment and pit and fissure sealants. Maintains a hygienic operatory in an organized and clean fashion and ensures appropriate instruments are available. Exposes, develops, and mounts radiographs properly. Completes the dental record clearly, accurately and timely. Provides chairside assistance to the dentist when necessary and aids in triage of emergency dental patients. Adheres to hospital, health center and department policies and procedures. Participates in the Dental Department Quality Assurance/Chart Audit Program. Maintains clinical recall system. Minimum Qualifications

NYSDH Hygiene License and CPR Certification. Willingness to devote time required to complete assigned tasks on schedule. Dedication to providing excellent customer service and utilization of available resources to reach sound decisions. Initiates action to solve problems and assumes responsibility; works with others toward shared goals and problem-solving. Respect for co-workers and patients’ cultural backgrounds, treating people with fairness and respect. Complies with HIPAA, OSHA, JCAHO, and organizational policies and procedures. Meets attendance and punctuality guidelines and annual mandatory education requirements. Completes goals and assigned projects in a timely manner. Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese. Additional Information

Salary Information: The salary range for this role is $86,576.95 – $100,467.44 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
